Still Sending In Payments?

"For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." --Colossians 1:13

Would I make payments on a debt "paid in full"? I've done it, but it is time to stop because that is just one of the most foolish things anyone can do.

I have to remind myself of that when I am tempted to say or do something that once established my membership in the dominion of darkness. No, I cannot "put down my religion" and say or do something that makes me feel good for a moment, but sends in a payment to the powers of evil.

If someone rescues me from a sinking ship, I will never get back on board because a yummy meal or lots of money may be found on board that ship. A chance to give someone "a piece of my mind" won't justify getting on board a sinking ship. Harboring hatred, ill will, and resentment aren't worth passage on board a doomed vessel.

If you have asked for God's forgiveness of your sins and lack of righteousness, Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleared and fully deleted all bills owed by you to the forces of negativity, evil, wastefulness, and greed. You no longer need to send in payments. If a bill is sent, you may tear it up and throw it in the trash.

When I am tempted to think, speak, and act as if the powers of evil are calling the shots in me and in my life, I remind myself the debt of sin is paid in full. I do not need to send in payments.

"For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness..."
